Chelsea Coffin
Deputy Director, DC Policy Center
Collaborative Advisory Committee Member
Chelsea Coffin is the Deputy Director of the D.C. Policy Center, where she leads the Education Policy Initiative. Her research focuses on equity, early career outcomes, and access in public education. She brings over a decade of experience studying education in D.C., including at the DC Public Charter School Board, and is passionate about building systems that give every young person a fair chance to succeed. Before turning to local policy, Chelsea worked internationally on education and development projects, including service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mozambique and conducting research at the World Bank.
Chelsea holds a master’s degree in International Economics and Development from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College. She currently serves on the boards of Higher Achievement, Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools/See Forever Foundation, and District Bridges.
Chelsea has lived in D.C. for more than 15 years, and now resides in Ward 1 with her spouse and two kids.
