Mukta Ghorpadey is the Executive Director of the DC Postsecondary Success Collaborative, which she co-founded with her colleague and friend, Amelia Hogan, after launching the DC Postsecondary Success Summit in 2023. The idea for the Collaborative grew out of a simple but frustrating observation: DC is full of people working hard to help young people navigate their postsecondary journeys, but too often, they're doing that work in isolation, and young people still aren't experiencing the outcomes they deserve. Mukta works to strengthen DC's postsecondary ecosystem by connecting people and organizations across education, nonprofit, workforce development, research, policy, philanthropy, and government. Through the Collaborative, she fosters cross-sector partnerships, creates space for practitioners to learn from one another, and helps align efforts across the city so that young people have more connected pathways to educational success, family-sustaining careers, and economic opportunity.

Mukta's approach to this work is grounded in years of experience working directly with young people and alongside the people who support them. She most recently served as National Director of College and Career Programs at Urban Alliance from 2022 to 2026, where she developed and led alumni services and career pathways strategies across the organization's regions in Baltimore, Chicago, the greater DC area, and Detroit. She began her career at Urban Alliance as a program coordinator before becoming its DC Alumni Director, working closely with young people as they navigated life after high school. She later served as Associate Director of Postsecondary Success at DC Prep, where she focused on employment programs and helping schools rethink what success after high school can look like.

Mukta's commitment to building stronger communities extends beyond her professional work. From 2021 to 2024, she served two terms as an elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for Single Member District 1A07 in Columbia Heights, advocating for affordable housing, employment, education, and violence prevention. She also served on the board of the National Youth Employment Coalition from 2021 to 2025, connecting with leaders across the country who share her commitment to improving employment outcomes for young people. In addition, Mukta volunteers as a mentor with Generation Hope, supporting a student parent as they navigate college, career goals, and parenthood.

Mukta holds a bachelor's degree from The George Washington University and lives in Columbia Heights with two cats of varying grumpiness levels. Outside of work, she has dabbled in stand-up comedy and storytelling, remains a perpetually disappointed Commanders fan, and tries to dance as much as possible, even when her knees and back don't want her to.
